How to Ski ?

Alpine skiing is a sliding sport that consists of descending a snowy slope using skis and fixed rear bindings. Alpine skiing brings together different styles. the most popular styles of skiing are cross-country skiing and downhill skiing.

Learning to downhill ski

learning to ski goes through 3 methods. the first and simplest is the snowplough. this consists of forming a triangle with your skis, bringing the front points together and pressing the heels outwards. The more you spread, the more you will brake. So if you bring your skis closer in parallel, you accelerate.

The snow plow

Then, as you have understood, the other method is parallel skiing. This consists of bringing your skis parallel and as close as possible. It also allows you to make turns more easily. To turn you have to bring your inside ski parallel to the outside ski, lifting it slightly by putting your weight on your pole.

The parallel skiing

the last is the scull, this one consists of bringing your inside knee into the outside one. It allows you to go down the slopes at a higher speed while constantly braking.

ski areas in the czech republic
Comparable in altitude to the French Vosges, the Czech mountains stretch along the border with Germany and Poland and are easily accessible by car from the capital Prague in about two hours. Covered with snow from December to March, the mountains of Bohemia are ideal for downhill skiing with the family in small resorts, but are above all an El Dorado for cross-country skiing enthusiasts. Thanks to the continental climate that reigns in the Czech Republic, snow covers the mountain ranges of Krkonoše (Giant Mountains), Krušné Hory, or Šumava from December to March and these offer winter sports enthusiasts more than 190 km of slopes, 175 funiculars and ski lifts, snow parks and hundreds of kilometers of Nordic slopes. The most popular ski resort in the Czech Republic is Špindlerův mlýn in the Krkonoše Mountains. In total, this Czech “Chamonix” has 24km of ski slopes, 3 snow parks, a U ramp, 5 funiculars, 11 ski lifts, 2 children's parks and above all 95km of cross-country ski trails. The highlight of this season will undoubtedly be the Alpine Ski Worlds, which will take place from March 8 to 9 on the slopes of “Spindl” as the Czechs call the resort.
